Letter from Mr. Thomas
Hello, Heirway Family!
We trust the school year is off to a great start for you and your family! I apologize for getting these announcements to you later than I had planned as I was tending to my grandmother's funeral. Thank you for your prayers and patience as I travelled to MD to celebrate her life, legacy, and home going to be with the Lord.
Please note the following reminders & important announcements.
First, please remember that the teachers and I are unable to take walk in appointments first thing in the morning as we have devotion together and then we each begin class immediately afterward. If you wish to speak to someone, please leave a message in the office and we will contact you as soon as possible. Also, please remember that Heirway's policy asks that all concerns go to the teachers directly should you have a concern with something classroom related and then in the event the issue is unresolved, please make an appointment with the principal. Furthermore, please note our dismissal adjustments. MS and HS will dismiss at 2:59pm and elementary has moved dismissal to 3:05pm.
Finally, after researching much of the information about the eclipse taking place next Monday, August 21, we feel it is best to close school at 12:00 noon for a few reasons. Firstly, the safety of the students is our main priority and we want to allow your children to be home and not on the road at the time of the eclipse. Secondly, because this is such a rare event, we wish for you to experience the event as a family as you best see fit. To ensure that everyone is home in time to safely enjoy this event, we ask that all children are picked up and off campus by 12:45 pm at the very latest. We will NOT offer aftercare on Monday, August 21, so that our campus does not have anyone in or out at the time of the eclipse. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you in advance for your cooperation and support. Please check with local authorities on where to obtain proper eyewear in order to enjoy the event safely.
Thank you and God Bless.
