Valerie Scott , Head of School
Greetings! I am Valerie Hardaway Scott, and I am delighted to be returning home to Heirway Christian Academy after nine years. I am originally from Columbus, Georgia. My family and I settled in Douglasville after my husband’s retirement from the United States Army in 1992. I lost my husband, Joseph Scott, Jr. in 2012. Together, we shared three children; Kimberly, Kevin, and Miyanda “Mimi.” Mimi was a member of the first graduating class of Heirway as well as its first Homecoming Queen.
I have twenty - five years of teaching experience in the Christian School Community. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Regent University where I majored in Organizational Leadership and minored in Management. I graduated from Regent University School of Divinity in May 2021 with a Master of Arts in Practical Theology, and I am presently enrolled at Regent University School of Divinity, where I am pursuing my doctorate degree as a Doctor of Ministry. I have two beautiful granddaughters, one beautiful great granddaughter, and a very handsome great grandson, whom I adore with all my heart. Moreover, Heirway is family to me as well. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas and I have been friends for years. Mr. Thomas and I share a mutual respect that has been fostered by our love for the Lord as we served students together from 1998 – 2006, when he became part of the administrative team. I am familiar with the vision of Heirway Christian Academy, and I am honored to be given the opportunity to serve again but, in a different capacity. As your new Head of School, I will sincerely do all that I can to ensure that God’s vision for your children is manifested. I commit to partnering with Mr. and Mrs. Thomas, the teachers, students, and parents to make Heirway the place where God will be glorified, teachers will be honored and valued, students will be loved and encouraged to fulfill their purpose in Christ, and the parents will be at peace knowing that they chose the best place for their children to satisfy their God – given destinies!
